  • 1Β½ cups hot water
  • 250 g cooked chickpeas (or 1 (15 oz) can)

  • 62 g hazelnuts
    ‍
  • 12 soft dates, pitted

  • 55 g cocoa powder
    ‍
  • 360 ml hot water
  • Steps

    Prepare Ingredients:
    ‍

    • Drain and rinse the chickpeas if using canned.
      ‍
    • Toast the hazelnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
      ‍
  • Blend the Spread:
    ‍
    • In a blender or food processor, combine the chickpeas, toasted hazelnuts, dates, cocoa powder, and hot water.
      ‍
    • Blend on high until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
      ‍
  • Adjust Consistency:
    ‍
    • If the spread is too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
      ‍
  • Serve or Store:
    ‍
    • Transfer the spread to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to a week.
