  • 4 large portobello mushrooms

  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling

  • Balsamic vinegar, for drizzling

  • Tamari, for drizzling
    ‍
  • Sea salt
    ‍
  • Freshly ground black pepper
    ‍
  • 4 burger buns
    ‍
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, pickles, mustard, etc.
  • 4 large portobello mushrooms
    ‍
  • Olive oil, for drizzling
    ‍
  • Balsamic vinegar, for drizzling
    ‍
  • Tamari, for drizzling
    ‍
  • Sea salt
    ‍
  • Freshly ground black pepper
    ‍
  • 4 burger buns
    ‍
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, pickles, mustard, etc.
  • Steps

  • Prep the Mushrooms:
    • Remove the stems and gently clean the mushroom caps with a damp cloth.
      ‍
    • Place mushrooms on a plate and drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and tamari.
      ‍
    • Season with salt and pepper, then rub everything in with your hands to coat both sides.
      ‍
  • Grill:
    • Heat a grill or grill pan to medium.
      ‍
    • Place mushrooms gill-side up and grill for 5–7 minutes per side, until tender and slightly charred. Consider pressing the mushroom flat when you turn it for a more even char.
  • Assemble:
    • Serve the mushrooms in buns with your favorite toppings.
